Hardy geranium flowers pictures.

Finally there is Geranium sylvaticum. Its flowers are a combination of pale purple, blue and pink and the dominant colour seems to change depending on the weather and the amount of sunshine.

Geranium phaeum grows naturally in damp meadows and along the edge of woodland so does not like to dry out and prefers some shade. Geranium libani seems to have originated on lower mountain slopes , growing in deep crevices and therefore having its roots in shade. Mine does perfectly well planted at the base of an old garden roller. As this Geranium is summer dormant it does not seem to object to nearby plants drooping  over it during the rest of the year.
Geranium macrorrhizum naturally grows among rocks and scrub in mountains and is much more drought tolerant than the others. It grows anywhere in my garden.
Geranium sylvaticum likes to grow in meadows so again it prefers not to dry out.

Geranium flowers pictures.

Geraniums (genus Pelargonium and Geranium) continue to be some of the most popular plants in Georgia landscapes, home gardens and indoor settings. Geraniums display vivacious and showy leaves with clusters of vibrantly coloured flowers.
Their reliable and long-lasting flowers are well suited for formal beds and for non stop colour in hanging baskets and window boxes and as ground covers. Geraniums show great variation in leaf, flower and growth characteristics. They may vary in height from 6 inches to several feet, depending on the variety and the care given to the plants. Many types are available. Some geraniums for landscapes and home and garden use include:
Common Garden Geraniums (Pelargoniumhortorum) Usually have distinct leaf markings. They include selections with tri-coloured leaves, silver leaves, leaves with white markings, and fancy-leaved geraniums. Flower colours are usually pink, red and/or white.
Ivy-Leafed Geraniums (P. peltatum or Pelargonium X domesticum) are trailing in habit and have leaves that resemble ivy leaves. They are commonly used in hanging baskets and window boxes.
Scented-Leafed Geraniums (Geranium spp.) are prized for their leaf aroma. Scents include lemon, rose, peppermint, nutmeg and others. Many have deeply lobed leaves.

Cyclamen flowers pictures.

Habitat:
shady places, or in pots under glass
Flowering: autumn
Height: 10 cm
Width: 15 cm
Soil: with humus
Cyclamen make a most welcome splash of colour, with ne or more species in flower throughout the year. The flowers, with their characteristic reflexed petals, are in various shades of pink through to white, and the leaves are very often mottled or patterned with silver. A few species are not fully hardy, but many are, and left to seed themselves they can eventually make an impressive display.
heralds the end of winter. In some years we have even had one or two flowers open by Christmas, even in Scotland. Whenever they first reflex their petals to give the distinctively shaped blooms, they stay in flower for several months, and then show their attractively patterned round leaves. Under the species name comes a range of leaf patterns and flower colours.
a white-flowered form of this fine species, which looks delicate with its small, round leaves, but which comes into flower in the depths of winter, and keep blooming for two to three months.
provides one of the delights of the gardening year, when its first flowers appear at the end of August. The pink (occasionally white) flowers appear shortly before the wonderfully patterned leaves start to unfurl, and an established plant may have hundreds of flowers arising from a soup-plate sized corm. We sell plants raised from seed. Very large corms offered in some garden centres are almost certainly dug from the wild.

lovely species from woods and shaded banks in Mediterranean countries, from southern France to Greece, and also in Algeria. The flowers are pale pink to rose, deep coloured at the base of the petals. It is one of the spring-flowering species.
